College players of the week announced by TSWA - Sept. 24

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay running back La’Vell Wright ran for 142 yards and three touchdowns as the Governors blasted Alabama A&M. His performance helped earn him the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Football Offensive Player of the Week.

With the three touchdowns, Wright became the first Governor to rush for three touchdowns since Mike DiLiello against Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 24, 2022, with runs of 53 and 67 yards. He is also the first Governor with multiple 50-plus-yard rushing touchdowns since Brian Sneed against Tennessee State on February 28, 2021.

His three rushing touchdowns are tied for the fourth-most in a single game in the Football Championship Subdivision.
