FOOTBALL: Maryville’s Bunch, Austin Peay’s Jackson earn TSWA weekly awards
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College’s Jacob Bunch and Austin Peay’s Kordell Jackson were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association for their efforts in contests from September 9-15.
Bunch rushed 15 times for 177 yards and one touchdown in a 27-22 Scots loss to 18th-ranked Centre College. The Bean Station, Tenn., native posted a five-yard TD run early in the second quarter and added a 59-yard scamper and six runs of 10 yards of more in the contest. Maryville collected 329 rushing yards in the game.
Jackson returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in APSU’s 48-34 road victory at Mercer. The junior added two tackes and a pass breakup for the Govs. He recorded a 29-yard return in the third quarter to put APSU ahead, 27-13, and added a 69-yard return for a TD, the fourth-longest in school history, early in the fourth quarter for a 41-20 Governors advantage.

MEN’S SOCCER: Maryville’s Miettinen named TSWA award winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College’s Kai Miettinen earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week accolades, netting three goals in a pair of wins for the Scots.
The Knoxville, Tenn., native scored unassisted in the 44th minute for the team’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Mary Baldwin University to begin USA South Athletic Conference action. The senior forward followed that with two goals in a win versus Averett University.
He put the Scots ahead on an assist from Jace Burchfiel in the 31st minute and found the back of the net again just 131 seconds later, this one from Matt Hulihan.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: Maryville’s Reagan garners TSWA weekly honor
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College’s Shannon Reagan tallied her second career hat trick, registering Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Soccer weekly honors for the Scots.
The Tullahoma, Tenn., native scored three times in the first 26 minutes of action in a victory at Averett University for her first hat trick since October 21, 2017. The senior forward netted an unassisted goal in the seventh minute to get Maryville on the board and got assists from Hannah and Jenna Clothier, with Reagan heading in a rebound for her second goal of the match in the 11th minute.
She posted her final score of the contest in the 26th minute thanks to helpers from Abbie Anderson and Bailey Sipos. Regan has scored five goals in six matches this season for the Scots.
2019 TSWA WOMEN’S SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

VOLLEYBALL: Memphis’ Flowers named TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis junior Hannah Flowers was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Volleyball Player of the Week, earning MOP honors at the Saluki Invitational after posting 49 kills and seven total blocks in three matches for the Tigers.
The Wildwood, Mo., native collected 15 kills with four block assists and three service aces against Alabama State to open the tournament. She registered 15 kills against host Southern Illinois and finished the event with 17 kills against IUPUI. She is averaging 3.24 kills (94 total) through nine matches this season.
