MEN’S BASKETBALL: Union’s Parks earns TSWA Player of the Week honors
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Union University’s Tylandrius Parks was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, posting 23.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in a pair of victories for the Bulldogs.
The Pocahontas, Tenn., native recorded 26 points, seven boards and six assists versus Montevallo, connecting on 11-of-15 shots overall and 4-for-7 from 3-point range. The senior guard just missed a triple-double in an overtime win against Auburn Montgomery, tallying 20 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists, hitting only 4-of-14 from the field but making 12-for-16 at the foul line.
Parks has scored 20-plus points six times this year, including three consecutive outings. He averages 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists through 11 games this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Tusculum’s Belton repeats as TSWA Player of the Week winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tusculum University’s Mya Belton was voted the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, averaging 17.7 points and 11.7 rebounds with three double-doubles for the Pioneers.
The Bythewood, S.C., native registered 18 points, 10 boards, four assists and three steals in a victory over Brescia University, making 7-of-15 shots overall and 4-for-7 from 3-point range. She followed that with 13 points, 12 boards, four steals and six blocks in a league victory against Emory & Henry.
Belton finished the week with 22 points and 13 rebounds versus Southern Wesleyan, hitting 8-of-18 shots overall and 3-for-5 from behind the arc. She averages 13.8 points, 8.6 boards and 2.2 blocks per game through 13 contests this season.
