FOOTBALL: Tennessee Tech’s Fisher, Sewanee’s Porter earn TSWA weekly awards
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech’s Bailey Fisher and Sewanee’s Wesley Porter were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association for their efforts in contests from September 16-22.
Fisher accounted for 404 yards of total offense and five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) in Tennessee Tech’s 38-24 road win over Western Illinois, the first non-conference road victory for the Golden Eagles since 2013. The sophomore completed 23-of-37 passes for 314 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and a 17-yard score just before halftime.
He rushed 13 times for 90 yards with TD runs of six, one and 26 yards. The 26-yard scamper iced the game for TTU with 4:47 to play. Fisher has completed 63 percent of his throws for 979 yards and four touchdowns while carrying the ball 39 times for 120 yards and seven TDs through four games this year.
Porter posted six tackles, five solo, and intercepted a pair of passes, one for a touchdown, in Sewanee’s contest against Birmingham Southern. The Salisbury, N.C., native registered an interception at the Sewanee 18-yard line on the opening possession of the game from Birmingham Southern and made three tackles in the first half.
The junior added two stops in the third quarter and returned an INT 58 yards for a score in the final period. Porter has 19 tackles with three interceptions and one forced fumble through three games this season.

MEN’S SOCCER: King’s Delisle named TSWA award winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – King University’s Ben Delisle earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week accolades, posting two goals with an assist in the program’s first-ever victory over Tusculum University.
The Montreal, Quebec, native scored on a penalty kick in the 21st minute to give the Tornado a 1-0 edge and his through-ball to Callum Davidson put King ahead, 2-1, in the 78th minute. Delisle netted the game-winner on another PK in overtime for the 3-2 win by the Tornado. He has two goals and two assists in two matches this season.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: Sewanee’s Roemershauser garners TSWA weekly honor
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sewanee’s Addie Roemershauser registered Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Soccer weekly honors, netting five total goals in a pair of outings for the Tigers.
The New Orleans, La., native scored twice in the second half at NCAA Division II Alabama-Huntsville, finding the back of the net unassisted in the 50th minute to get Sewanee on the board. She added another goal from Abbie Kleckley in the 73rd minute.
The freshman posted three goals in a victory against Agnes Scott, including an unassisted score in the 31st minute to give the Tigers a 2-0 halftime lead. Roemershauser collected goals in the 80th and 86th minutes for the final two scores of the match. She has seven goals and one assist in seven matches this season.

VOLLEYBALL: Maryville’s Bonee named TSWA Player of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville College’s Meredith Bonee was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Volleyball Player of the Week, recording a triple-double and a double-double in three outings for the Scots.
The Knoxville, Tenn., native collected 13 assists in a sweep versus Johnson University and tallied a double-double against Averett University with seven kills, 25 assists and 11 digs. The sophomore finished the week with a triple-double at Bridgewater College, posting 14 kills, 10 assists and 13 digs to give Bridgewater its first loss of the season.
It marked her third triple-double of the season and sixth of her career for the Scots. She also recorded her seventh double-double of the year and 19th of her career. Bonee has 111 kills (2.58 per set), 201 assists (4.67 per set) and 133 digs (3.09 per set) through 13 matches for Maryville.
