Carson-Newman's Marosites, Tusculum's Donaldson garner TSWA weekly honors

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Tusculum’s Donaldson named TSWA award winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Tusculum University’s Donovan Donaldson earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolades Wednesday, averaging 24.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two victories for the Pioneers.

The Nashville, Tenn., native tallied his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 17 rebounds against Carson-Newman, hitting 5-of-12 field goals with four 3-pointers. The 17 rebounds are tied for the seventh-most in a single game in Tusculum history.

The senior guard followed that with a career-high 32 points at Wingate College, connecting on 13-of-23 shots from the field, including 6-of-12 from behind the arc. Donaldson netted 24 points in the second half and knocked down the game-winning basket for Tusculum’s first win at Wingate since 2011.

He is averaging 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Carson-Newman’s Marosites garners TSWA weekly honor
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– Carson-Newman’s Kayla Marosites posted Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Wednesday, registering 16.5 points and 12.0 rebounds with a pair of double-doubles in two wins for the Eagles.

The Elizabethton, Tenn., native netted 22 points with 13 boards in a 75-70 victory over Tusculum University, hitting 7-of-14 field goals with three 3-pointers. She added 5-for-6 at the foul line in the road win for Carson-Newman.

The junior guard collected 11 points and 11 rebounds in a home victory against Newberry College, connecting on 3-of-9 shots from the field and making all four free throws.

Marosites is averaging 14.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this season for the Eagles.
